Question of the Week

On Tuesdays I will now be requesting reader participation. Since I can never get enough of talking about Italy and sharing experiences, I decided that we should hear from anyone who would like to chime in and offer his or her own view of Italy.

Today's Question: What is your favorite place in Italy?

This can be a city, town, hotel, a specific spot from where you can see a most splendid sunset - anything that moves you. Tell us why this place means so much to you. If you are anything like me, it will be virtually impossible to choose but give us one (or two if you must!).

I will check back later today and leave my own reply.

Ciao!

  1. My favorite place is a type of place in Bel Paese more than a specific place. It is the Italian bar off of a piazza just after sunrise, ordering a "doppio", heading outside, and watching Italian life unfold as the day begins. Perhaps it's off of Piazza del Popolo in Roma, down the street from Piazza della Santissima Annunziata in Firenze or on Campo S Maria Formosa in Venezia (our most recent trip about a month ago). Much of our love of Italy revolves around food, as it does for many Americans (and Italians, I suspect). One of our favorite restaurants that we return to each visit is Osteria dei Cento Poveri (Via Palazzuolo 31/r) in Firenze.

I found your blog through your website, by way of Sigrid Olsen's website, by way of the NYTimes Home & Garden article on Sigrid's home. Glad to have found your website and blog, many common interests. PS: the link to your blog from your website is broken
